Are greedy mana bases still an issue even without birds, city, and blood moon? I feel like being able to punish greedy mana bases should be a good strategy that would inscentivise people to play less colors/more stable mana bases. However strip mine could not be legal with regrowth. If only there were a card like wasteland in this format. Ive been thinking about a format like old school where you can play cards from alpha to exodus. Long time 1.5 player here (legacy since 2002). This format looks really fun, excited to play hopefully i can find a community here in minnesota

Have you tried Premodern or Middle School? They use cards from ~ Ice Age through Scourge (with slightly different B/R lists.) Sounds right up your alley.
Also there is def an Old School group in Minnesota, they are called the Northern Paladins. They have a facebook group, check them out.
